Log: Week 5

Mon, 4th March: Boat and hike trip to the beautiful beaches of the Abel Tasman National Park

Tue, 5th March: Bustrip to Franz Joseph, short stop at the "Pancake-Rocks" in Punakaiki and in Hokitika, in the evening night-walk through the native bush, seeing lots of glowworms

Wed, 6th March: Walk through rainforest in the glacier valley of Franz Joseph Glacier, in the evening short bustrip to Fox Glacier Village

Thu, 7th March: In the morning I tried to hitch-hike to Lake Matheson to see the famous reflection of snow caped mountains in the lake, but I didn't manage to get a ride so when I finally arrived by foot an hour later, the clouds and the wind had been faster... :(
Later I tramped through beautiful rainforest with views of (at least the lowest part because of the clouds) of Fox Glacier

Fri, 8th March: Bustrip to Queenstown with some photostops with stunning views of the Southern Alps

Sat, 9th March: In the morning I took a short walk along the banks of Lake Wakatipu in Queenstown, in the afternoon I did a Quadbike-tour with perfect views over Queenstown and the lake. Afterwards I walked up to the upper Gondola station with some more good views.

Sun, 10th March: Daytrip to Milford Sound. Although we did some photostops along the way and a boatcruise at the fiord (although I still don't understand the difference, we have been told that it is actually a fiord and not a sound) I'd rather had some more time to explore the beautiful landscape along the Milford Road.
